Dua lipa is a British artist and singer who was born on the 22nd of August 1995 in London. In 2014, following a career as a model and actress, she was signed to Warner Bros Records. She launched her self-titled debut album in 2017. It peaked in at the third spot at the top of the U.K. albums chart and included eight singles, which included The U.K. top-ten single New Rules and Be the One I.D.G.A.F. Lipa won the Brit Awards for British female solo artists and British breakthrough act in 2018. The album was certified platinum across the world. Her parents were Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. Her mother is Bosnian. It is also possible to trace her ancestors from Peja in Kosovo. Her grandfathers were historians as well. She is the sister of Rina Lipa and an older brother called Gjin. Lipa was musically influenced by her father, who is the lead guitarist and singer for the Kosovan rock group Oda. At home her father continued playing music which included his music and compositions, as well as songs of David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa started singing when she was just five years old. When she was nine, she started singing at Sylvia Young Theater School.
