Madekwe comes from a multi-cultural family. She was born within South London. Her father is a Nigerian-Swiss, while her mother was English. Her family was raised on a council estate in the south of London. At the age 14she enrolled in The Brit School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in acting from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She was on stage in numerous productions during her time at school like King Henry V, as Princess Katherine, and Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started acting in Storm Damage. In the years since, she's made guest appearances in Teachers, Doctors, Casualty as well as Drop Dead Gorgeous. Her debut film as a performer came from the Woody Allen 2007 movie Cassandra's Dream. She starred opposite Colin Farrell & Ewan MacGregor. In the wake of that film's success she was cast as Elisha in the single-episode BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN as well as appearing in six episodes of Trexx as well as Flipside in the role of Ollie. In 2008, she got Bambi's part on the ITV2 Drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. She appeared in both series 2 and 3. Madekwe also starred as the main character on How to lose friends & alienate people that was aired by Sony Pictures Entertainment back in the year 2008. The credits she has in her theatre work comprise Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams and Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe was a part of Ashley Davenport on ABC's drama The Beautiful Life. The two-episode drama aired just two weeks on The CW and then it ended. Ashley Davenport was her role in ABC's drama Revenge. Madekwe's exit from the series was announced in May 2013. After a period of two years as the main character she appeared as a guest in the very first episode of season 3. She starred as Tituba in the television series Salem between 2014 and 2016. Madekwe and her boyfriend for many years, Iddo Goldenberg, were married in June 2012. They both appeared on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. They have also appeared together in Salem.

Ashley Leggat is a Gemini-nominated actor who was raised by the large family. She was the daughter of Roy and Patty Leggat. The four brothers she had were also in the family including twins Todd & Bram, Brett & Rob. The brothers of Ashley were extremely athletic and played baseball and hockey in the winter as well as in the summer. She grew up in the arenas and baseball. Ashley did not have the ability to walk, however she did dance. When she turned two-and-a-half she took up Baby Ballet and fell in love. It was then that she discovered Ashley's interest in dance. Ashley participated in the top divisions for jazz, tap ballet, hip hop, the lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics and pointe until she graduated in high school. Every big dance events, such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance which have awarded her the honor of "top individualist".
