One of her personal highlights was being selected by a scout to join Snoop at the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, as well as writing songs, despite the turbulence over the last few years. Songwriting is a source of inspiration for new producers. Niykee is always listening to beats and discovers many songs that inspire her. "I'll be able to discern within 5 minutes if this is a quality beat. When I've got a tune in my mind and I begin to write right away." My guitar sits on the back porch and I'll let my words flow. The process usually takes about 30 minutes. Niykee's pain from her past provides constant inspiration as she develops as an author. My experience of pain as a child up as well as the loss of my sister are present in my lyrics even when they are not literally. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and provides it with a deeper meaning, which I find crucial. I want to be able to hear my songs in 20 years and feel proud of the things I've written.
